As we think about a new school, it is my hope that we are not isolationists, but a small piece of hope for education's future.
A new report by a nonprofit group suggests a focus on charters and other high-performing schools in the district offers a quicker path to improvement than other turnaround strategies being used in Denver Public Schools. Higher and more specific expectations should be set for new schools, and turnaround strategies that have not led to improvements should be discontinued, the study by the Donnell-Kay Foundation recommends.
